Tia Shan writes literary tragedies set in imagined dynasties of ancient China — stories of women whose lives were shaped, and often undone, by palace walls, political duty, and love that arrived too early or too late.
She is drawn to the quiet corners of history: the woman behind the emperor, the concubine who never spoke, the wife who waited a lifetime for a letter that never came. Her writing lives somewhere between historical fiction and fable, where the dynasties are invented but the heartbreak is real.
She is currently at work on her third novel.
